We currently have the following opportunity for a Mechanical Testing Engineer with experience in heavy duty automatic transmission testing available at our Wickliffe, OH location (an eastern suburb of Cleveland).
This position interacts closely with the Commercial Vehicle Driveline Business Segment to understand product approval and differentiation needs and to ensure that Mechanical Testing activities and resources are appropriately deployed to support the needs of the business segment. This includes providing engineering support to the lab operating team, coordination of work from internal and external service groups, development of novel test methods to demonstrate lubricant performance in commercial vehicle, farm tractor, construction and off-highway driveline systems, interpretation of test results and technical presentations to OEM’s, partners, customers and internal colleagues.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that projects are aligned with business goals and there are agreed-upon milestones, dates, and accountability
Develop in-depth knowledge of heavy duty automatic transmission test methods for lubricant product development and product differentiation
Interact with Commercial Vehicle Driveline business segment technical and commercial teams to develop testing strategies which best support business growth objectives
Provide regular updates to business segments on technical and project achievements as well as hurdles and issues
Apply engineering skills and knowledge in the development of new tests and test procedures
Review project performance at milestones and ensure accountability to deliver agreed upon results
Apply financial knowledge and methods to evaluate testing opportunities and strategies to support the business while maximizing utilization of testing assets and return on capital investments
Leverage trends in customer industries/marketplaces to shape solutions and approaches for the customer
Support processes that ensure operating flexibility in response to customer demands
Interact with laboratory operations, data acquisition and control, and other resources. Effectively coordinate these resources to ensure optimum test performance (cost, quality and linkage to business objectives)
Track and report capital and operating budget figures
Review project progress, issues, roadblocks and success with product development teams on a regular basis
Partner across technology groups, striving for consistency in processes and resource sharing when practical
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BS Degree in Mechanical engineering
Minimum of five years of engineering experience in commercial, construction, agricultural or off-highway drive-train systems or components
General knowledge of heavy duty driveline systems and the OEM’s that build these systems
Ability to conduct data analysis and provide conclusions and/or recommendations for improvement in the test area
Possess effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and internal/external customers

Provide clear, concise and timely reports reviewing the pertinent details, status and results of all test activities
Keep management aware of all information and issues
Manage test area in a financially responsible manner by balancing expenses against revenues and by determining return on investments
Possess a demonstrated track record of good customer focus, solid communications skills, adaptability and ability to work in a team environment
Respond resourcefully and constructively to new demands, priorities and obstacles.
Ability to present a compelling case for ideas and initiatives that advance the business strategy
Demonstrate high energy level and enthusiasm
Possess a strong work ethic and be willing to “go the extra mile”
Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally
Ability to use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to fulfill safety requirements

MS Degree in Mechanical engineering
SALARY RANGE: $ 48,500 TO $ 73,500
